GUITAR PROGRAM
Children ages 4-6 must begin in the Early Childhood Music Academy to build a strong musical foundation through guitar technique and music theory. The Guitar Program is designed for students ages 7-18. Students with previous experience must have an assessment by a GMG Instructor to determine their class level. The guitar program include acoustic, electric and bass guitar. GMG Music Center staff specializes in diverse styles of music. GMG teachers come from various performance and educational backgrounds to bring our students the highest quality and diversity of instruction. The proper theory and technique is covered in the lesson. Guitar students develop listening skills, left and right hand independence, coordination, reading skills and improvisational creativity. All guitarists will learn to read tablature as well as standardized music notation, chords, finger picking, lead guitar, and rhythm technique. The guitar program offers beginner, intermediate and advance students the opportunity to explore various styles of music such as Flamenco, blues, rock and acoustic finger style. Students also learn note reading, specialty chords and power chords used in these various styles of music. GMG offers a rich learning platform, interactive quizzes, instructional videos and practice mp3 tracks to get the notes under their fingers as quickly as possible, while allowing each student the portability and versatility to practice their guitar. Students will also benefit from personalized instruction from the guitar instructors on their weekly assignments in both a group and private setting. GMG also offers performance opportunities for its students, including recitals, Open Mic Friday and community events. These performances allow students to showcase their work, giving them an opportunity to share their progress with family and friends.
