Children ages 4-6 must begin in the Early Childhood Music Academyto build a strong musical foundation through singing and music theory. Welcome to GMG Music Center's Piano Program! The Piano Program is designed for students ages 7-18. Students with previous experience must have an assessment by a GMG Instructor to determine their class level. Piano is the most popular and perhaps the best beginning instrument for the young musicians. All styles from classical to jazz and pop for beginners to advanced students.Beginning with the natural hand/arm technique, students at GMG Music Center learn solid basic technique (correct position, finger dexterity, flexibility, and more). Students also learn the rudiments of music: sight reading, rhythmic notation, meter, and harmony.Memorization, theory, practicing skills, musicality, and self-listening are taught from the beginning. In more advanced students, GMG teaches musical clarity, chords progressions, advance sight reading techniques as well as gaining an understanding of musical structure. Students continue to expand their repertoire while searching for their own voice and styles.Students complete an assessment before moving on to the next course to ensure that each student has a clear understanding of the material covered giving them a strong musical foundation as they continue to grow.GMG also offers performance opportunities for its students, including recitals, Open Mic Friday and community events. These performances allow students to showcase their work, giving them an opportunity to share their progress with family and friends.
